Foreign Guests Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the 15^th day of the 8^th lunar month, is celebrated among Chinese communities to mark the end of the harvest season. On 14^th September, ASIPP held a  cocktail reception for foreign guests to share the joy and spirit of this important Chinese festival. 

Traditional as it is, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time of family reunion, featured in eating moon cakes and admiring the full moon. The foreign guests at ASIPP and their family got together to celebrate and   to experience a Chinese way of celebration. Professor Martin Peng from Oak Ridge National Laboratory  introduced the origins of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the legend about the goddess Chang’e on the moon and her rabbit.
