A group of experts met on Thursday, Apr. 25 to review the ITER PF Converter Prototype manufacture design at Xi’an. More than 30 technicians from 7 research institutions, including ITER Organization, attended the meeting.

The Two-day meeting began with a summary presented by Prof. Fu Peng on the main role played by ASIPP in this program. After that, representatives of institutions introduced their specific manufacture design of the prototype to the review committee one by one. As many as 18 reports were made by 10 engineers, covering various topics ranging from busbar design, structure and interface design for converter transformer, converter module & external bypass prototype to risk control of quality management etc.

This design review marked the shift of the program from design phase to equipment manufacturing phase. After the PI approves the technical responses of the manufacturers, two prototypes will be released for manufacture. (Wang Guohe reports)
