An important breakthrough was made in the the research of large-area dyestuff-sensitized nanometer film solar cell. A small 500 W model electric power station was build in the middle of October. Professor M. Gratzel, the inventor of the solar cell sang high prize for this new progress.

Another breakthrough, the production of a 15 cm × 20 cm solar cell board and 1.44 square meters solar cell phalanx, which was tested and approved by experts from the Bureau of High Technology Research and Development, was also made in the field of large-area solar cell research and manufacturing technique last year. The main research of this year is the production of large-area solar cell airproof material and its techniques, solving the problem of repeating manufacture of solar cell. This has made significant progresses in small-batch practical production and technique research. The photo electricity exchange efficiency of the small 500 W electric power station built in the middle of October reaches 5%, which is in the first place of the world.

After visiting ASIPP and looking over the new progresses in this field professor M. Gr?tzel, the inventor of the solar cell, from High engineering Institute of Lausanne of Switzerland, expressed his ideas. He said, the breakthrough made in this field in China will attract the interests of the world, and he was very glad to congratulate the researchers  of ASIPP in this field. He would make a report about this new progress in the international experimental congress. (Shi LIn reports.)
