Ground-breaking Ceremony Held for HNERC

  The ground-breaking ceremony for Huainan New Energy Research Center, CAS (HNERC) was held in Huainan New and High Tech Development Zone, Monday, August 24, 2012, together with other key construction projects of Huainan city. The ceremony was hosted by Huainan vice mayor Wang Chen, CAS Hefei branch director-general Wang Yingjian attended the event and other participants included ASIPP deputy director Wu Xinchao, director assistants Yao Jianming and Song Yuntao.

  HNERC is a sub-institute of Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), oriented toward the application research, academic exchanges and personnel training related to nuclear fusion and other new energy sciences. Its mission is to target the forefront of world new energy science and technology; to meet local economic needs and national strategic needs; and to play a backbone and leading role in basic application research and industrialization. 

  Sitting on a 74.5 ha site, the planned center will have a total gross floor area of 0.82 million square meters. Features include labs, R&D center, conference center, café, guest houses, gyms, etc. Approved in February 2012 by Huainan Municipal government, HNERC project is scheduled for completion within four years.
