EUROfusion and the Swiss Plasma Research Institute heads visited the Institute of Plasma Physics

On August 29th to September 2nd, a delegation led by Dr. Jean-Philippe Hogge, a senior scientist of SPC, toured the Institute of Plasma Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP). The delegation was warmly greeted by Academician Jiangang Li, Director Yuntao Song, Deputy Directors Jiansheng Hu, Guosheng Xu, and Kun Lu.

To foster mutual understanding and ongoing dialogue, Professor Ambrogio Fasoli and Professor Paolo Ricci delivered special academic presentations on EUROFusion's research and the Swiss Plasma Research Institute's work, respectively. Young scholars present took the chance to inquire, leading to a vigorous exchange and debate between the parties.

Throughout their visit, the guests and their delegation explored the EAST fully superconducting tokamak experimental device and the CRAFT Park, a comprehensive research facility for key systems of fusion reactor mainframe, to gain insights into plasma's innovative achievements in magnetic confinement fusion research and the outcomes of open and shared international scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges. At the symposium, both sides presented initial concepts and plans for technical cooperation research, engaged in detailed discussions on potential future cooperation directions in plasma applications, and jointly advanced technical collaboration.

On the morning of September 1st, Zhang Hongwen, a member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee and Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, conducted working talks with Professors Ambrogio Fasoli and Paolo Ricci to plan and promote cooperation on fusion energy research and development, international scientific and technological cooperation, and talent cultivation.
