To make a reasonable and efficient annual plan for EAST experiment, 2nd EAST General Planning Meeting (GPM) was held at ASIPP on 20-21 March. More than 50 Chinese and foreign experts were invited to make suggestions and proposals.

Participants presented their ideas and proposals during the meeting and discussed the reference that EAST experiment may provide for the key issues faced by ITER and CFETR. The meeting created a good beginning for EAST 2017 experiment as well as the ITPA/CTPA joint experiment.

With EAST as an open platform, ASIPP will hold the GPM annually, aiming to absorb valuable experience and intelligence from all over the world, which are beneficial to the development of Chinese fusion research. (Yingkun XI reports)
