The Delegation of the United Nations Visits ASIPP
Heading a five-member group from the United Nations, Mr. Vitaly Vanshelboim, deputy executive director and chief operating officer at United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), visited ASIPP on July 23th, 2016.
Prof. WAN Baonian, director of ASIPP, reported to the guests the research progress on EAST tokamak and introduced the significance of fusion under global issues of energy shortage and climatic deterioration. Designed and operated by ASIPP, EAST is the first full superconducting experimental tokamak in the world, making a number of breakthroughs in fusion field.
The delegation of the United Nations was much impressed by the research achievement and rapid progress made by ASIPP. Learning the development of EAST and ITER, they expressed that they will continue to trace the fusion technical innovation in future. (Reported by ZHANG Luxi)
