57th Annual Meeting of the APS Division of Plasma Physics (DPP) organized by American Physical Society was held in Savannah, Georgia, USA during November 16—20, 2015. More than 10 ASIPP researchers attended this meeting and reported the latest results in magnetized confinement plasma physics.

During the meeting, experts from all over the world gave hundreds of oral talks and thousands of posters to exchange advances in nearly all aspects in plasma physics, including space plasma, inertial confinement plasma, magnetized confinement plasma and so on.

Professor Guosheng Xu from ASIPP gave a report titled “Advances in ELM control towards long-pulse H-mode plasmas on EAST” on behalf of EAST group. He introduced the ELM control on EAST by using LHW, RMP, ECM, lithiation and so on. Professor Nong Xiang gave a report titled “Interactions of electrons with multiple lower hybrid waves”, which was about the simulation results of the interactions. Associate Professor Qilong Ren gave a report titled “Progress toward Steady State Tokamak Operation Exploiting the high bootstrap current fraction regime” and aroused heated discussion. Other researchers of ASIPP introduced their latest achievements in plasma diagnostics, edge plasma and simulation by talks and posters.

APS DPP was established in 1959. The annual meeting provides a chance for researchers around the world to communicate about the understanding and application of research results in the field of plasma physics. (Qi Wang reports)
