Dr. Yang Chen, from Center for Integrated Plasma Studies (CIPS), University of Colorado at Boulder, also fellow of the American Physical Society has firstly visited ASIPP on September 20.

This two-week visit can be considered to bridge the gap between Theory Division of ASIPP and CIPS of University of Colorado.

During the stay, Dr. Chen gave a serial of fully prepared lectures titled as” Gyrokinetic Simulations: Current Status and Future Challenges”, In the lectures, Dr. Chen shared his numerical simulation work done in the past 15 years in CIPS, which draw great attention from young scientists and graduate students from ASIPP and USTC.

These presentations were followed by further small group discussions with young scientists in Theory Division. They agreed to conduct research on gyrokinetic simulation of turbulence transport in EAST plasmas, which also achieved another goal of this visit to seek the chance of collaboration in common interested areas.
