Nathaniel J. Fisch, Professor and Associate Chair of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University, an old friend of ASIPP, visited the lab from Sept.8 to Sept.10

From previous visits and exchanges, Fisch’s talks, plus his research attitude and achievements have greatly impressed ASIPP young plasma theory researchers and students, who become his fans.

But what did Fisch bring to his fans this time? From his talk titled “Maintaining Steady State Current with LH Waves in Tokamaks”, you may have a clue. He shared his new research results --- recently discovered flexibilities and constraints on both optimizing current drive in a reactor and on experimentally testing these enhancements in present-day devices.

During his stay, Fisch attended the workshop on runaway electrons and gave some constructive advice to the young scientists. (Zhao Dan reports)
