Dr. Gilles Montavon, a member of the SUBATECH laboratory of the French National Scientific Research Center, visited ASIPP on March 28 at the invitation of Professor Xiangke Wang. During his visit, he presented a lecture entitled “The radiochemistry group at Subatech: from fundamental to applied studies”. Dr. Gilles Montavon made a radiochemical research report about the SUBATECH laboratory, and gave a detailed description of their laboratory research teams as well as their research in the field of radiochemistry. After the report, participants made a lively exchange and discussion in the field of academic report.

Dr. Gilles Montavon, who is in charge of the radiochemistry group at the SUBATECH laboratory of the French National Scientific Research Center, mainly engages in the research of chemical properties of environmental radiochemical and medical radionuclides. He specializes in radionuclide absorption, EXAFS and TRLFS spectral characterization and related chemical model construction, chemical properties of minim radionuclides (such as: astatine-211). He has also published 46 research papers on Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, Environmental Science and Technology and other academic publications. Dr. Gilles Montavon has presided over the completion of more than 10 France and EU research projects on the high-level radioactive waste disposal and the nature of medical radionuclides.

Dr. Montavon’s visit expanded the academic horizon of the young workers, and laid a good foundation for foreign exchange. The two sides look forward to more in-depth cooperation in the field of environmental radiochemistry. (Wang Ying reports)
