Recently, “EAST Advanced Divertor Physical Research”, one of the National Magnetic Confinement Fusion Science Projects, entered into its mid-term evaluation. More than 20 experts from University of Science and Technology of China, Peking University, Dalian University of Technology came to Hefei and participated in the evaluation meeting.

Five detailed speeches on topics of divertor plasma behavior, heat flow control, mechanism and control of edge plasma, and diagnostic techniques etc were presented to the experts. Prof. Li shared with participants of most recent EAST experiment result -- reliable and repeatable 32s-long pulse H-mode operation on EAST, a new record. Fu Xiaofeng, head of Division of Major Projects Administration, Department of Basic Research, MOST, confirmed ASIPP’s achievement on the project.

After discussion, the expert panel have come to a positive conclusion, endorsing the accomplishment of the project’s first two-year goals, of program, optimization the advanced tungsten divertor design, development of charge-coupled device (CCD) camera system and cultivation of young scientists.
