Youth Symposium of Center for Magnetic Fusion Theory (CMFT) has been successfully held at ASIPP from May 3rd to May 6th.

The theme of this symposium is “Communication, Cooperation and Innovation”. This time, including young scientists from ASIPP, more than 40 participants are from Princeton University, USA, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and University of Science and Technology of China. Altogether 21 oral presentations are given during the symposium.

In his opening speech,Prof LI Jiangang, Director of ASIPP, extended a warm welcome to all the participants from home and abroad, and then he led the oral presentations by a talk on “What Is the Best Work for Fusion Theory Research” from a experiment physist’s point of view. Prof Qin hong, Head of CMFT, gave an overview talk about the purpose of the symposium as well as introducing CMFT researches.

This three-day long symposium offered a platform to all the participants to exchange ideas and experiences with one another on frontier researches such as simulation and compution integrating wave heating, current drive, fluid dynamics, turbulence transport, H-mode and plasma.

After the symposium, young scientists also visited the EAST Superconducting tokamak. (Zhaodan Reports)
