Two ITPA Topic Groups Joint Meeting Held in ASIPP

The joint meeting of the 22nd ITPA Pedestal and Edge Topic Group and the 8th ITPA Transport and Confinement Topic Group was held at Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ASIPP), Hefei, China, during 2 – 5 April 2012. Altogether 99 participants from Europe, USA, Japan, South Korea, Russia, India and China attended the meeting.

Prof. Li, director of ASIPP, gave an opening speech to welcome the participants. He presented the recent results and the near future plan on EAST, highlighted the good domestic circumstance for Fusion in China and strengthened that EAST needed a wide international collaboration.

　  More than 100 oral presentations, mainly on L-H transition, plasma turbulence, particle transport and fuelling ELM modeling, pedestal evolution between ELMs, pedestal structure, ELM control by resonant magnetic perturbation and pellet injection, were presented during the 4-day meeting. The results of joint experiments in the frame of ITPA have been reported and the future plans were discussed.

The next ITPA meeting, together with other Topic Groups, will take place in San Diego, USA after the International Atomic Energy Agency Fusion Energy Conference (IAEA-FEC).(Yang Ying Reports)
