Solar Cell Project: Looking back and Looking Forward

The annual meeting of project “Basic Research on Highly-Efficient, Low-Cost, Novel Thin-Film Photovoltaic Materials and Devices” was held to review the progress in 2011 and plan future research steps in Hefei from Dec. 23 to 25, 2011. About 50 participants from 16 research institutions attended this meeting. Prof. Dai Songyuan, the chief sciectist of this project hosted this meeting.

　  Prof. Dai firstly introduced the background, main tasks, and annual goals of the project. Then the key persons of sub-projects gave reports on the research progress this year. Participants had deep discussions on problems existing in the project and sub-projects. The advisory committee made constructive suggestions on project’s organization and further work plan. Experts suggested that this project be divided into three research tasks: application research for industrialization, pure basic research and frontier research.

　  Undertaken by ASIPP Solar Energy Materials & Engineering Division, this project of major scientific issues orientation is supported by National Basic Research Program (973 Program). This project contains nine sub-projects; ASIPP shoulder two of them, namely, “Mechanism, module technology and its application in dye-sensitized solar cell”and “Exploratory research of novel solar cell structures”.
