Theory Division Hosted Visiting Professors

To explore cooperation with the Theory Division, 3 Professors of different institutes and countries visited ASIPP in series from late November to early December. They are Prof. John R. Cary from University of Colorado (CU) at Boulder, Prof. Leonid E. Zakharov from Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), USA and Prof. Jan Weiland from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden.

During the visit, seminars were given by these professors, i.e., “Advances in Electromagnetics and Plasma Computation” by Prof. Cary; “Understanding Disruptions in Tokamaks” by Prof. Zakharov and “Comparison Of Internal and Edge Transport Barriers in Transport Code Simulations of Drift Wave and MHD Type Transport” by Prof. Weiland. Young researchers in the Theory Division had extensive discussion with the visiting professors, and possible cooperation topics are proposed in aspects of simulation and compution, fluid dynamics and turbulence transport. Besides, Prof. Jan Weiland is planning to work at ASIPP two months next year. (Zhao Dan Reports)
