National Magnetic Confinement Fusion Science Program Launched in ASIPP

2011 National Magnetic Confinement Fusion Science Program was officially launched on November 13. Held at ASIPP, the launch meeting was chaired by vice director Prof. Wu Xinchao, and attended by over 40 participants from Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), University of Science and Technology of China, Southwestern Institute of Physics, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Dalian University of Technology and so on.

ASIPP undertake three projects of the National Magnetic Confinement Fusion Science Program, namely, Key Diagnostics and Basic Experimental Research Platform on EAST, Technical and Experimental Studies of Long Pulse ECRH on EAST and Low-recycling Quasi-steady-state H-mode Experimental Studies. The theme of this meeting is to deliberate the projects’ targets, contents, methods, organization scheme and annual plan.

Prof. Li Jiangang gave a welcome speech to all the participants and thanked MOST for its strong support. He said ASIPP will accomplish the tasks with high quality in three years. Fu Xiaofeng, head of Division of Major Projects Administration, Department of Basic Research, MOST, confirmed ASIPP’s achievement in the pre-research work for ITER. Then he announced the responsible experts who will help manage the programs implementation.

ASIPP vice director Prof. Wan Baonian and Academician Wan Yuanxi also gave speeches, representing project key person, responsible experts and expert team leaders respectively. (Fang Xiufeng Reports)
