ASIPP has held a series of lectures to enhance awareness of nuclear safety since mid-March, after catastrophic radiation leaks at the quake-damaged Japan’s Fukushima Daichii nuclear plant. All these lectures are well-attended.

March11, FDS (Fusion Design Study/Fusion Digital Simulation) Team of ASIPP gave a detailed analysis on Japan’s nuclear accident in aspects of damage status quo, main causes, and its effect on China. FDS team called for close monitoring of radiation on China side and as well as appropriate nuclear safety education to avoid unnecessary public panic.

March 29, an expert from Municipal Health Bureau was invited to instruct ASIPP safety staffs in basic knowledge of nuclear safety in a short course. This is not the end. Later, on April 2, Prof. Wu Yican gave a lecture on nuclear power, introducing nuclear plant design, construction and safety criteria, power plants in China and their technologies and safety programs. Prof Wu reiterated his viewpoint that nuclear safety education to general public is as important as nuclear safety itself. (Wang Yuan Reports)
