Big DSC&OPV Assembly in Huangshan City

About 350 scholars and graduate students from Japan, Korea, Singapore, Australia, India, Germany, USA and other countries and areas convened on August 25-28, 2010 in Huangshan City, China, to participate in the 5th Aseanian Conference on Dye-sensitized and Organic Solar Cell (DSC&OPV-5). The conference was hosted by Key Laboratory of Novel Thin Film Solar cells, ASIPP, and Prof. Songyuan Dai, director of the lab, chaired the conference.

　  The topics of this conference covered one of the most important and demanding research challenges today — Novel thin-film solar cells, including:
- Preparation of Key materials related to dye-sensitized and organic solar cells
- Preparation, physical and chemical properties of devices
- Mechanism, stability, conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized and organic solar cells
- Large-area dye-sensitized solar cells and module simulation and design

　  About 52 oral talks including 3 plenary and 19 invited, and 127 poster were presented. To encourage the research of young scientists and graduate students, the organizing committee set up the best “Chaoqun” poster prize, which is title-sponsored by Anhui Chaoqun Power Co. Ltd. By the selection of seven senior scientists, six young graduate students or scientists from China mainland, Taiwan, Korea, Japan won the prizes, including Mr Shuanghong Chen, a PhD student in ASIPP solar laboratory, they received the certificates and rewards from Prof. Songyuan Dai and Mr. Yuejiao Jiang, President of Chaoqun Company.

　  In parallel, the China-Korea Bilateral Symposium between Key Labs of Novel Thin-Film Solar Cells and Next Generation Dye-sensitized Solar Cells was held for the first time, and both sides decided that this bilateral workshop will be held annually in the future. 

　  In recent years, research and development (R&D) on dye-sensitized solar cells and organic solar cells have attracted wide-spread interests from governments, academic institutions, enterprise and become one of the focuses of photoelectrochemistry, thin-film solar cells and related research fields. This conference provided a special networks and platform for the face-to-face academic communication among DSC and OPV community from Asia and Oceania.

　  The Key Laboratory of Novel Thin Film Solar cells, ASIPP is not only the successful organizer but also an important contributing team. Over 30 young scientists and graduate students from the lab have attended the conference. Dr Xu Pan, a young scientist in our laboratory chaired the second session and gave an oral presentation.
