Experts from Univerisity of Leeds Visited Key Lab of Ion Bio-engineering

Professor Howard Atkinson, from biology research center of University of Leeds, and Doctor Liu Bing visited key lab of Ion Bio-engineering of ASIPP from May 18th to 22th.

Through exchanging ideas England experts showed great interests in the cooperation in the field of ion beam irradiation nematode biology. In order to  made experiments in this field, they changed their schedule in China. The results of the 3-day experiments proved to be good. 

On  May 20th, professor Howard Atkinson made a scientific speech with the name of  an GM crops help feed the world -Nematode control as a case study. More than 100 people  from Anhui University, Anhui Agriculture University, and other institutes participated. The speech covers many aspects in the field of nematodes, including the damage of nematodes to crops and the characteristics of nematodes. The emphasis of the speech is the safety of the transgenic plants and the relation of  transgenic plants and  nematodes. Discussions were made between the professor and participants.

In the afternoon of May 21th, experts and researchers of ASIPP made discussions about the preliminary results of the recent experiment. The focus and the target of the research was also shown clearly. (Wu Yuejin and Shi Lin report.)
